Camera Gear
This is my main camera, and I LOVE this guy! I feel like the value this camera offers cannot be beat. This is a full-frame camera with very good autofocus and wonderful low-light performance. Just like my previous Lumix, this camera has excellent stabilization and is weather resistant and records up to 6K open gate. No worries about getting out for some quick rainy weather shots!
Previous issues with rolling shutter on this full-frame bad boy have been pretty much eliminated to the extent necessary for YouTube vlogging with firmware updates by Lumix. These regular firmware updates are one of the many reasons I love the Lumix line along with the easy-to-navigate menus and customizable buttons and recording modes.
I use the 20-60mm kit lens which I find quite impressive! The versatility of the lens is perfect from beautiful landscape shots to vlogging to up-close intimate shots. While the camera can record slow motion up to 180fps, the quality is lacking. I stick to 120fps at 1080p and have been extremely happy with the footage.
This is not a light-weight camera/lens to carry around for vlogging – weighing in around 3lb! But the beautiful footage makes this my numero uno camera with a good arm workout!
Camera Add-Ons I Use:
Rode VideoMic Pro+
This microphone is an excellent shotgun mic that produces clean, clear audio and helped to drown out noise behind the camera (dogs barking, lawn mowers!). One of the things I love is that the mic turns on and off with the camera. Goodbye are the days of starting to record a video only to realize I forgot to turn the microphone on!
The microphone comes with a rechargeable battery that charges fast! You can also use regular batteries or USB power if needed. However, I never worry about the battery dying even during a day-long filming session.
For recording audio outdoors, the Rode deadcat is a must for preserving this microphone’s high-quality audio by blocking wind noise, and it does this incredibly well!

I use my GoPro for all the hard-to-get shots, unique perspectives, gorgeous timelapses, and as my run-and-gun camera when I need to be a little more stealthy or there's no way I can carry my big bulky Lumix.
Stabilization is out of this world with a GoPro, but you do lose video quality for that due to its small sensor. But its versatility and huge range of mounting options means mind-blowing shots are only limited to your own creativity.
When the weather is bad, the GoPro is my go-to camera. It's rated for use underwater to 33 feet.
This GoPro records from 60-240 fps for buttery smooth slow motion; however, a lot of light is required for the best results. At the higher frame per second rates, the quality drops off dramatically.
This little camera is highly capable as is, but adding a few accessories has turned this into a great back-up vlog camera for me.
GoPro Add-Ons I Use:
Media Mod
This includes a directional microphone which greatly improves audio, but it is not waterproof. It adds other functionality to the GoPro such as the ability to attach an external microphone.
